A series of nine large-scale window shutter panels welcoming visitors to the Auckland Project in Bishop Auckland. The panels are situated on the first floor of the stunning Auckland Tower. These artwork works were designed to feel like modern stained glass windows.
This series tells a story through time, from the Romans with the fort of Binchester to current-day Bishop Auckland. Each panel explores a different time through local wildlife and architecture.
The arched shape of the designs was inspired by the windows in the Chapel of St Peter at Auckland Castle. The decorative spandrels include patterns and iconography from the various eras depicted on the panels.
